Profile:
"The best British band of the year" - so said Russia's Shadowplay Magazine of Psychophile in 2004, and now the Brighton-based duo return to back up the claim with the stunning new album, Vodka Milk. Originating in the early-1990s, Psychophile underwent a series of line-up changes before settling on the current line-up of Lucy Pointycat (vocals/programming) and Smogo (guitars/programming) and releasing their debut album, Transition, on Wasp Factory Recordings in spring 2003. The band's twisty-turny history - which saw their music develop throughout the 90s from new-wave-indie to electro-goth via industrial pop - expresses itself today in Psychophile's unique cocktail of sounds. You never know quite what to expect with a Psychophile record, so why not download the tracks on this page and get a free taster….
Reviews:
"It’s not surprising Psychophile get noticed for their quality. They're streets head of the UK 'competition', standing head and shoulders above the majority of UK Goth because of the songwriting strengths. You'll find real melodies, and real ambition here."
- Mick Mercer, author of 21st Century Goth
"These guys are at the forefront of the changing face of the goth scene and I can't understand why anyone couldn't possibly like this. I'd even go so far as to say that these guys are the future of Goth - watch out for them."
- Natasha Scharf, editor of Meltdown Magazine |
